Vice President, Product Marketing
Brendan is the Vice President of Product Marketing for the High-End Routing and Optical business within the Service Provider Group at Cisco. He is responsible for managing a multi-billion dollar business that delivers innovative products and solutions for the top Service Provider, Web, and large Enterprise customers globally. Brendan leads a large product marketing team focused on managing Cisco’s core routing, edge routing, Carrier Ethernet aggregation, and optical transport product lines, driving product development and technology strategy to meet customer needs. He and his teams have helped Cisco to maintain #1 market-leading positions in core and edge routing, while gaining share in optical transport in parallel.
Brendan has been at Cisco for the last 15 years, leading product marketing and development strategy for high-end edge routing for nearly the entire time. He added responsibility for core routing and optical transport in 2012, as Cisco led the industry towards driving IP + Optical convergence in product capabilities and also in organizational design. He was instrumental in defining the development strategy and leading business growth for the Cisco ASR 9000 and 7600 series edge routers, as well as leading the initial development of Cisco’s Carrier Ethernet product lines. Prior to joining Cisco, Brendan held various systems engineering positions at Bell Atlantic and other companies to consistently advocate for and drive Internet and data communications growth.
Under Brendan’s leadership, Cisco has received numerous significant industry awards for product innovation in routing and Carrier Ethernet. He has long been committed to leadership in these market segments, which included service on the board of directors for the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University.
